This song has been a long time coming. I started thinking about the need for Cyber catastrophe bonds in 2016. ~5 years ago I made a promise – joking, but not really – to write a rap if and when we brought a Cyber CAT bond to market. I had no idea how long that would actually take. Many times it seemed just around the corner, only to not happen. Now, here we are! And it’s incredible to see not just one 144A issuance this initial cycle, but four – in addition to the private deals earlier in 2023. Get your headphones or good speakers for this one!

By day I work at CyberCube Analytics, where I lead a team that analyzes the dynamics of cyber risk to create solutions for this fast-growing societal problem. Currently, my main musical muses are cyber risk (of course!) and my family. Rap to me is about energy, wordplay, and maximal messaging in a compact medium. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then I hope a rap can encapsulate a 45-minute talk in a memorable way.
Who I’m listening to and inspired by: Wu Tang, Free Flow Flava, Run the Jewels, Cordae, JAY-Z, J. Cole, Talib Kweli, Megan Thee Stallion, Black Thought, Royce - and since it’s not all about hip-hop - Calm Whale, Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, Soen, Rising Appalachia, Yaima, and TOOL.
